Our CrossFit Classes are a one hour long group session designed to help improve your strength and fitness. Each class is coached by at least one of our qualified instructors and will involve a group warm up, strength or skill development work and a WOD (Workout Of the Day). The WOD is a high intensity workout using a mix of functional movements and lasting anything from 5 to 25 minutes. Everyone in the class trains together and your exercises and weights are scaled based on your current ability in order to give you a challenging and rewarding workout. We encourage everyone to record their progress so over time they can see the vast improvements in their fitness, strength and conditioning.

Leeds Barbell Club

Leeds Barbell Club was set up to meet the increasing demands by individuals to get more focussed coaching time and quality programming on their Weightlifting.

Weightlifting is an Olympic sport consisting of the two barbell lifts, Snatch and Clean & Jerk, which are the ultimate test of explosive power and technical proficiency. Our classes are technique orientated, and will cover the two main lifts and their variations, including assistance movements and plenty of squatting and pulling. The sessions will develop your proficiency in Olympic Weightlifting exercises as well as improving your all round strength, speed and power.

We are a British Weight Lifting affiliated gym. Our Head Coach is BWL Level 2 coach Yousef Ziu who has a wealth of Weightlifting coaching experience and an enormous amount of passion for the sport. Yousef is responsible for the programming, many of the coached classes and the overall structure of the Barbell Club sessions.

Taster Session

Designed for non-members who are thinking about getting started with us and want to learn more about CrossFit and our training. Your free CrossFit Leeds Taster Session gives you the opportunity to come and look around the gym, spend dedicated time with a coach, try a CrossFit WOD (Workout Of the Day) that is scaled to your ability, and ask any questions you may have. You'll be participating alongside others who are new to CrossFit. By the end of the session you'll have a good appreciation of what our CrossFit classes involve and how you can benefit from our training so you can make a more informed decision on whether CrossFit is for you. Sessions alternate between Meanwood and The Forge on Thursday evenings at 8pm. A full list of dates and registration is available on our Getting Started page.

CrossFit Kids

CrossFit Kids is a strength and conditioning program that safely combines gymnastics, bodyweight movements and weight lifting elements designed to be fun for kids of all ages. Full details and bookings can be viewed on our CrossFit Kids page.

Met Con

Met Con (short for Metabolic Conditioning) classes provide a fast paced intense training session utilising various interval protocols and exercises that will burn calories, develop fitness and improve physique. Classes are one hour long and include a workout of anything from 20-45 minutes in duration with a structured warm up and cool down either side and plenty of extra ab work. Perfect for those wanting to get a good sweat on and reduce their body fat.

A specialist gymnastics class focussing on the development of strength, flexibility and skill required to master a wide range of bodyweight exercises. Our gymnastics sessions will run in short courses of 4-6 weeks with each course of sessions primarily targeting a specific movement or skill. This will allow the coaching and required time to target specific progressions and make noticeable improvements. Recommendations and prerequisites will be provided to determine whether the movement focus is suitable for your current ability. You can expect to work on a range of movements including Handstand variations, Rope Climbs, Muscle Ups and other Ring Skills, Pull Ups and a lot of midline strengthening.

Classes consist of a variety of kettlebell and body weight movements and techniques aimed at building your strength and muscular endurance. The basic kettlebell movements, such as the swing, snatch, and the clean and jerk, engage the entire body at once and help to build functional strength predominantly in the legs, shoulders and lower back. You will also be coached through movements such as the Turkish Get Up, Windmills and Farmers Walk which are excellent for developing strength and stability in the shoulders and hips.

Competition Training

Our Competition Training sessions are designed for those people wanting to take part in the competitive sport of CrossFit. At CrossFit Leeds we have a strong history of high performance in CrossFit competitions and our dedicated coaching is continuing to develop athletes to a standard above and beyond our competition. These sessions are intended for members with a minimum of 6 months CrossFit training, have a good foundation level of strength, and are competent with basic competition movements such as kipping pull ups and cleans.

If you're unsure whether these sessions are appropriate for you, please speak to a coach who will be able to assist. If you're not currently at the required level of competency for these classes and want to get involved in competitions we are happy to help advise you on what you need to work on to get to that point.

Hill Sprints

A challenging running session suitable for all abilities held at Roundhay Park every Sunday morning at 9am. Hill Sprints provide an excellent way of improving anaerobic fitness, developing running mechanics, increasing your mental toughness and are a superb way of burning calories and increasing metabolism. The session lasts around 45 minutes and is followed up with an optional, well earned social breakfast at Napa on Street Lane.

Sunday Social

A tough WOD in a relaxed atmosphere to get stuck into late on a Sunday morning. We mix up the coaches that take this session each week and they will programme their choice of WOD (which may be influenced by our members). Think Hero WODs, Benchmark Mash Ups. Generally tough, character builder type stuff!!! Coaches will join in with the members on this class and the session will be followed up with a post-WOD food in Headingley. Usual scaling options are available and all abilities and experience levels are welcome.

Open Gym

If you have completed our Fundamentals course you can come and use the facilities for your own training during the Open Gym sessions. We understand that everyone has their own personal goals and so our Open Gym sessions are available to allow you to add more specificity to your training in order to progress. The Open Gym sessions are commonly used for catching up on class workouts that have been missed, practising new techniques learned in the classes, organising your own workouts with friends, improving mobility and developing strength. These are uncoached sessions but there will always be a qualified coach present.
